Why Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy?

What to expect

Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy is a type of clinical hypnotherapy that is well researched and has shown to deliver excellent results for individuals struggling with common mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. As the name suggests, the focus is on solutions, rather than problems, which clients often find a welcome relief. It’s a mixture of talking therapy and deep relaxation, that leaves clients feeling calm and motivated with knowledge about what they need to do in order to feel better or perform at their best.


This type of therapy is heavily based in an understanding of how the mind works, and backed by neuroscience. We therefore spend time in the initial consultation explaining what is happening in the brain when we suffer with anxiety, depression and anger – and why we feel the way we do. We also discuss how to create change, and the tools needed to achieve that change so you are empowered to take action, and move towards your goals.

Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy works quite quickly, and depending on the individual and their needs we normally have 8-12 sessions.


Phobia’s and smoking cessation sessions are slightly different. If your phobia is specific I offer a 4 x session package, and for smoking we can do this in a single 90-120 minute session. 

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a trance state, that is completely natural.  It's experienced when we are in a deep state of focus. (i.e the gym or driving a regular route – we all know that feeling ‘how did I get here?!’)


In the therapy room, trance is a guided relaxation which enables you to quieten your ‘busy’ beta brain waves, and enable your brain to engage in greater depths of creativity and imagination. By doing this, it essentially helps you to embed the thinking and desire for change discussed in the session, also allows you to access the powerful resources and knowledge in your subconscious brain which brings new ideas and solutions to the forefront of your thinking.


You also take the deep relaxation MP3 home with you, and play it regularly. This means you can relax quickly in sessions, and get the most of our time together.
